Mat Pilates is a body conditioning class that helps build flexibility, strength, endurance, and coordination. Using Joseph Pilates' original 34 mat exercises, we focus on the group of muscles in the center of the body - the abdomen, lower and upper back, hips, buttocks and inner thighs – known as the “powerhouse" or "core." All movement in Pilates begins from the powerhouse and flows outward to the limbs.
Pilates on the Ball and Pilates Magic Circle exercises are occasionally incorporated into this class.
No prior experience is necessary. All fitness levels welcome. Balls, Magic Circles and mats will be provided or you can bring your own. Private lessons available upon request.
